Description

« For lower voice sung in syncopation »

Etude for left hand:  for lower voice sung in syncopation.

The upper voice of this Etude aims to put into action the strength of which the right hand is susceptible, taking great care that this vigour brings neither stiffness in the hand, nor dryness in the touch; defects that are quite noticeable in a long series of sharp notes. The hand here must rest effortlessly on the notes it has to play; and for that, these notes must be under the fingers before striking them. The intention of the bass makes itself felt: it is clear that the strength of the hand must be on the second eighth note. We wanted to present to the student another difficulty, which is to make the bass motion very independent from that of the upper part, by making the eighth notes with equal value, even though they are in syncopation, and that they produce the effect of sixteenth notes, by the way they must be played.
